By CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia (other events)

ABOUT ABOUT

In 2019, creatives are beginning to understand the value of Intellectual Property and negotiating better deals. It's imperative that freelancers and creatives alike have the tools and knowledge to not only survive, but thrive.

Join attorney and entrepreneur, Karl Fowlkes, Esq. of The Fowlkes Firm, for a workshop, aimed at equipping creatives with the legal tools they need to protect their work + strengthen the creative economy. Alongside other artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs, we'll learn about some of the business and legal traps that can stunt your growth early on and how to:

  • negotiate service contracts,
  • navigate the independent contractor relationship,
  • protect your intellectual property,
  • and treat your art and services like a business.

This is a perfect chance to talk to a practicing entertainment and business attorney, so come prepared with your questions!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

$5 for CultureWorks members. Sliding scale for the public (please see below).

The cost for these workshops will be on a sliding scale basis. We recognize that this kind of learning experience is often cost prohibitive for individuals, particularly people of color, low-income/low-asset individuals, and those from grassroots and small organizations. Please find a cost that works for you. If you can afford to pay at the high end of the scale, please do!

Please note: If you sign up, please make every intention to be present. We understand that life happens and things come up, yet please do your best to attend or let us know if you can't make it. This way, we can release your ticket to these often sold-out workshops. Thanks!
