[VDA@CW] Challenging the Starving Artist Narrative

By CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia (other events)

Wednesday, October 25 2017 6:00 PM 8:00 PM

Vision Driven Artists and CultureWorks are partnering on a monthly workshop series for artists and arts organizations! This month we will:

  • Discuss the external messages you're hearing about the value of your art
  • Think through your personal narrative around money
  • Learn and share healthy ways of responding to both the external and internal narratives

presented by Brittany Campese (VDA) & Dominique Matti

Light refreshments provided.

Artists and cultural workers of all experience levels are encouraged to attend.

Free for CultureWorks & PACA members. $5 for the public. Maximum capacity 20. Registration required. Please only register if you plan to attend in-person.

Attendees agree to have their photograph taken and their likeness used in future promotional materials.

Space is wheelchair accessible. There is a unisex, accessible bathroom. Please contact us via the email link below regarding additional accommodations. We can provide childcare, ASL or language interpretation upon request with at least one week notice (by Oct 18).

Please note: We will not livestream this month. We would like to create a closed space for folks to share personal narratives.

about Vision Driven Artists

Vision Driven Artists (VDA) exists to put more resources and opportunities into the hands of Philadelphia-based artists and arts organizations, with a specific focus and emphasis on supporting systematically marginalized artists and communities. We offer free/low-cost workshops, fundraising support, organizational consulting, and resource sharing opportunities.

about CultureWorks

CultureWorks is a management commons for arts, heritage, and creative communities. We are a platform for sharing the human capital, space, technology, systems, policies, and practices that cultural workers need to flourish, whether as an individual or as an organization.

We serve more than 200 members—including ~80 fiscally sponsored projects—who access our services at below market rates. Basic membership includes access to shared workspace, flexible staffing, advisory services and classes to support a wide range of management functions. It is one piece of a broader offering that includes fiscal management, HR, insurance and a nonprofit umbrella through our fiscal sponsorship program, and—coming soon—a shared marketing and fundraising team. We provide equitable access to management resources for the makers and preservers of culture.
